Performance Squad

Intermediate Dance Training for 3rd Grade and up

What is Performance Squad?

Performance Squad is P.O.M.'s intermediate, non-competitive performance squad for dancers in grades 3rd and up.

The program is designed for dancers who are looking for more than a recreational dance class. Dancers receive weekly training in technique and performance skills while also having opportunities to perform throughout the year.

Performance Squad focuses on:

  • Building strong dance technique

  • Developing performance quality and confidence

  • Learning choreography

  • Working as part of a team

  • Creating leadership and mentorship opportunities

  • Preparing dancers for future performance and competitive opportunities

Dancers may be placed on the team through teacher recommendation, evaluation, or previous experience (at least one year).

What Styles of Dance Will Dancers Learn?

Dancers train in a variety of styles, including:

Ballet/Lyrical

Ballet provides the foundation for all dance styles and helps dancers improve posture, flexibility, balance, strength, and technique.

Jazz Technique

Jazz focuses on turns, jumps, flexibility, performance quality, musicality, and dance combinations.

Choreography

Dancers learn routines, performance skills, formations, teamwork, and stage presence.
